It's been a long time since my last post and it's all Emma's fault! The girl is a beast when it comes to moving about. She has completely mastered crawling and she clearly has her eyes set on walking. While she (thankfully) isn't walking yet she has started to pull herself up to standing and I think she is starting to piece together the next step I cruising.
Emma is also keeping us on our toes by continuing a downward spiral from okay sleeper to downright awful sleeper. In the past few months her sleep has steadily gotten worse as she teethes and practices her new skills in her sleep. The past few days have felt a whole lot like having a newborn again. Oh well, one day we will sleep again.
With all the trials of the past few months, life with Emma is still truly amazing. We love watching her grow and reach new milestones. She is developing quite the personality and if she continues at this pace, she will be quite the go getter.

Accidentally on Purpose
Emma has reached a new milestone - completely accidentally - she can now sit up! She had been working on crawling (she's so close!) when she swung her leg around and propped herself up on one arm. She then slowly pulled herself up and realized that she was sitting by herself. True to Emma form, she then went right back to trying to crawl. The girl is nothing short of determined!

Carrots Are the New Peas
We have thrown in the towel on peas. The past few days Em had made it very clear that peas are not her thing. She tried to like them, even going so far as to close her eyes and open her mouth, waiting for the spoonful of peas only to find out they still taste like peas.
We know she loves solids (the girl can't get enough rice cereal), so we figured we'd move on to a different food and try peas down the road. I figured she would like carrots but I wasn't expecting her to love them. After the 1st spoonful she grabbed the spoon out of my hand and just kept licking it. She then went on to eat half of the container and would have ate the whole thing had it been up to her. She is a solid eating machine - you should see the way she eyes ice cream!

Off to Daycare
Well, we all survived Emma's first day of daycare. To be fair, we weren't ever really worried about Em - we have a great in-home daycare person who came highly recommended - more worried about Eric and myself. I know that we've been really lucky to have Emma home with one of us for the past 6 months but I wish it could be even longer. :(
Em handled daycare like a champ and I only cried a handful of times so overall I'd say the day went pretty darn good. I know daycare will actually be pretty good for Em, she really hasn't been around other kids, I just wish she could stay home with us a little while longer.

Emma and Peas - Not in the Same Pod
Emma had her first taste of real food today. To say she wasn't a fan is a complete understatement. To be fair, sweet pea baby food smells horrible and neither Eric or I could be paid to try it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow!

4 Month Update
Blogging is hard. It's crazy to think how fast the past two months have gone since I last posted something. Life has been very busy since I went back to work a little over a month ago. It has been a pretty smooth transition for me and while I miss spending my days cuddling with Emma, it is nice to get back into the swing of things at the library. We have been incredibly fortunate with the timing of Em's arrival in that there was only a 2 week gap between me going back to work and Eric getting the summer off. Emma has some very amazing grandparents who came and watched her for those weeks. Eric's mom watched her for one week and my parents covered the second. Knowing that Emma is with family has made the transition to work so much easier. Yeah family!
In other Emma news, she turned 4 months old yesterday and as a birthday present to herself, she taught herself a new trick.
More truthfully, she just really doesn't like tummy time and has figured out this is the best way out of it! She has been really close to rolling over from her back to her belly for about the last 3 weeks but she just can't quite get the hang of where her sholder needs to go. We really weren't expecting her to roll belly to back at all so it was quite the surprise.
Miss Independent has also decided that she is unhappy with how we feed her and has taken upon herself to hold the bottle. At first is was kinda cute and funny but truthfully, she is strong and it has become really difficult to take the bottle away from her when we need to burp her (which is still about 3-4 times a feeding to help with her acid reflux). Nothing quite like wrestling with a 4 month old for a bottle!

Here We Go!
The Blog-
Eric and I aren't the best at keeping everyone up to date on what is happening in our lives and we suspect that since having a baby, we probably won't be getting any better at it. We have such amazing family and friends whom we love and care about and we want to be able to share what is happening in our lives (okay lets be honest, with Emma). Mostly we will be posting pictures and videos of Emma and sharing her new milestones. I have no idea how often we will be updating the blog but I can guarantee that there will be spelling/grammatical errors, pictures that include a messy house, dog stories and lots of baby related things.
The Emma-
It's hard to believe that Emma is now 2 months old! As much of a cliche as it is, it's hard to imagine life before her. Seriously, what did we do with all are free time! She seems to be growing more every day, as of yesterday she was 10lbs. 10oz. which is crazy. She is quickly growing out of her 0-3 month clothes; more in height than weight (apparently she wants to be just like her dad).
In the past few weeks she has become so much fun and it makes life with a baby a lot easier. She has begun to smile a lot more and is quite the coo-er. At the end of a rough day, when she looks up at you and gives you her toothless grin, everything in the world is good and wonderful (and then she usually starts screaming or fills her diaper... ). She is also starting to finally get a some chubby baby cheeks which display her one dimple (again just like Dad).

- Book - My First Colors (specifically the page with purple things which she is looking at as we speak)
